It's my favourite series by far, but that's mainly because it involves dragons! It's my favourite series by far, but that's mainly because it involves dragons! 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This was alright。 It was not my favorite series but it was。。。。okay。 Lots of maid jokes, lots of Gothic-loli jokes, drunk Kobayashi。。。。。hmm, I will read volume 2。。。。hopefully it gets better!

been feeling a bit down today because of circumstances and wanted something just fun and cute to make me laugh and that's what I got :) I will say the anime pretty faithfully adapted most of this manga although not in the same order - they basically mixed and match things to work together better - I'll be interested to see what the next few volumes bring。 been feeling a bit down today because of circumstances and wanted something just fun and cute to make me laugh and that's what I got :) I will say the anime pretty faithfully adapted most of this manga although not in the same order - they basically mixed and match things to work together better - I'll be interested to see what the next few volumes bring。 。。。more

。。。more

I loved this book。 It was short and sweet, and very funny。 The characters were so much fun and I can tell they have great, well-written backstories that I will get to see in later volumes。 Highly recommend。

I came across this series while shelving manga at the library where I work。 The art was cute, and I got a sense that it might be kinda gay, so when the Internet confirmed that yes, it is pretty gay, I decided to read it。 (It's astonishingly easy to convince me to read a book if a cute lesbian is involved。 Just ask my girlfriend how many of her recommendations I've taken。 [She'd probably say not enough, and I'm too slow to do so, so maybe don't ask her, actually。。。])It's best to have clear expect I came across this series while shelving manga at the library where I work。 The art was cute, and I got a sense that it might be kinda gay, so when the Internet confirmed that yes, it is pretty gay, I decided to read it。 (It's astonishingly easy to convince me to read a book if a cute lesbian is involved。 Just ask my girlfriend how many of her recommendations I've taken。 [She'd probably say not enough, and I'm too slow to do so, so maybe don't ask her, actually。。。])It's best to have clear expectations going in。 The initial set-up is pretty much the entire plot, at least for this volume: An office-worker (Kobayashi) gets drunk, encounters a dragon in distress (Tohru), and offers to let the dragon crash at her place。 Much to Kobayashi's surprise, Tohru takes her up on the offer, appearing at her door in full maid regalia, eager to cater to all of Kobayashi's needs。What follows is a series of episodes in which Tohru and Kobayashi navigate their new living situation。 You don't get that much backstory or explanation about Tohru's past, but you do get a lot of her being cute and doing her best to make sense of the human world and make Kobayashi happy。 I found Tohru rather endearing and could relate somewhat to her clumsy attempts to do what she thinks she is supposed to。 Obviously, I'm not a dragon, but I am autistic, and I think I sometimes find neurotypicals as perplexing as Tohru finds humans。 In terms of tone, expect some bawdy comedy and double entendre with a dash of fanservice。 I know that's not to everyone's taste, so it bears noting。 From what I've heard, this differs somewhat from the anime, but I've not watched it yet and can't confirm。I hope that the characters develop a bit more as the series continues, but even if they don't, I would still consider Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid to be an enjoyable read of the brain candy variety。 。。。more

I thought this was very cute and an interesting premise。 The cute little interactions between Kobayashi and Tohru are equally funny and cute。 I am looking forward to reading more。

Hilarious and beautiful! The anime is one of my all time favourites so I was excited to start the manga; I wasn't disappointed! Would definitely recommend if you like slice of life with a dash of fantasy and gay。 Hilarious and beautiful! This was not a unique story (and the manga art/storytelling is very rough compared to the anime adaption) but it is worth noting that I've never seen these tropes with lesbian characters before。 This was not a unique story (and the manga art/storytelling is very rough compared to the anime adaption) but it is worth noting that I've never seen these tropes with lesbian characters before。 。。。more

I liked it, I've seen most of the first season of the anime, and it was cool seeing what I saw on screen in a manga。 I just wish it was a few chapters longer or a lower price。 I finished it in less than a day! Picked this up after watching the Anime and it's just as good!! If not better in a few different ways。 This is a very laid back and engaging story。 The quick pacing of each chapter is sometimes hit or miss though。 Overall I love this series and all the characters! Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid has some funny gags and the relationship between the protagonists and how it progresses is charming。 However, I cannot stop thinking that, as Yuru Yuri, we are not supposed to take anything that happens here very seriously and that might get somewhat tiring。 Also, beware of fanservicy stuff。 Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid has some funny gags and the relationship between the protagonists and how it progresses is charming。 However, I cannot stop thinking that, as Yuru Yuri, we are not supposed to take anything that happens here very seriously and that might get somewhat tiring。 Also, beware of fanservicy stuff。 。。。more

I like it, but not quite as much as I thought I would。My 1st introduction to this author was via the short series, Mononoke Sharing。 So I kinda had an idea of what I was getting into。 I like the premise, I like the art, it's just。。。 I dunno。。。 the characters。 They don't do anything for me。 I don't really feel they have much substance。 I like well rounded characters。 So, while I'm going to keep reading this series, I've been let down & had my expectations lowered。 Art。 Rough, but decent。 Dialogue I like it, but not quite as much as I thought I would。My 1st introduction to this author was via the short series, Mononoke Sharing。 So I kinda had an idea of what I was getting into。 I like the premise, I like the art, it's just。。。 I dunno。。。 the characters。 They don't do anything for me。 I don't really feel they have much substance。 I like well rounded characters。 So, while I'm going to keep reading this series, I've been let down & had my expectations lowered。 Art。 Rough, but decent。 Dialogue, a bit silly, but good。 Kobayashi's male coworker seems kind of creepy。 Ok, on to the next volume! 。。。more

(I've read up until volume 6 upon writing this review) I came from watching the anime and I wanted to read a sweet little slice of life。 It did not disappoint。 It touches on themes such as discrimination and work culture while also being fun comedy。My one gripe is that there's barely any Takiya and Fafnir, which are probably my favourite characters。 (I've read up until volume 6 upon writing this review) I came from watching the anime and I wanted to read a sweet little slice of life。 It did not disappoint。 It touches on themes such as discrimination and work culture while also being fun comedy。My one gripe is that there's barely any Takiya and Fafnir, which are probably my favourite characters。 。。。more

Don't judge me。 Some of you like equally, if not, trashier manga and I don't say anything LOL I mainly love this series for Tohru and Kobayashi's relationship and their family dynamic with Kanna。 80% of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is so incredibly good—it is absolutely fantastic, joyful, and wholesome sapphic love。 This series would have been my favorite had it not been for the other 20% that is sexist trash anime tropes and pure bile that I wish I could purge from the entire series。 I might go Don't judge me。 Some of you like equally, if not, trashier manga and I don't say anything LOL I mainly love this series for Tohru and Kobayashi's relationship and their family dynamic with Kanna。 80% of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is so incredibly good—it is absolutely fantastic, joyful, and wholesome sapphic love。 This series would have been my favorite had it not been for the other 20% that is sexist trash anime tropes and pure bile that I wish I could purge from the entire series。 I might go into it later for each volume, but thinking about it exhausts the hell out of me so check my tags for warnings in the meantime。 Like how could coolkyousinnjya make such a lovely story and get me invested in this family of two moms and their dragon daughter, and then go and slap me in the face with even worse anime tropes and characters like Lucoa, Ilulu, and the way Kanna is drawn sometimes!?!? /shudders。 The rest of the 20% that exists in the manga is pretty unbearable and ultimately made me drop it。 Unfortunately, I already bought the first 7 copies as well as 2 spin-offs。。。there was a sale 😭 So I will be reading those and then I'm gonna stop。 Anyway, if you're strapped for yuri content, I'd recommend the anime instead if you don't mind skipping over Lucoa's disgusting behavior。 。。。more

I think this may be more of a 3。5, but it might also be a full 4 stars。Kobayashi's Dragon Main was one of the first animes I watched。 Though there are problems with this story (both the anime and manga) and I might have noticed them at that time, but probably not as much as would now。 There are lots of things I enjoy about this series, the art style for one and the romance between Kobayashi and Touru is adorable。 I don't think I'm gonna continue this series or re-watch the anime。 As I would like I think this may be more of a 3。5, but it might also be a full 4 stars。Kobayashi's Dragon Main was one of the first animes I watched。 Though there are problems with this story (both the anime and manga) and I might have noticed them at that time, but probably not as much as would now。 There are lots of things I enjoy about this series, the art style for one and the romance between Kobayashi and Touru is adorable。 I don't think I'm gonna continue this series or re-watch the anime。 As I would like to keep the great memories of this series I have to stay intact。 。。。more

Bizarre but cute this series definitely has potential。 It is more episodic than a story arc over the course of the whole volume, but it seems fitting for the book。 I like the characters and they have definite potential for growth。 The artwork it not bad。 I hope to continue reading the series。
